Wes Benedict who is the Executive Director of the Libertarian Party in the USA praised Barack Obama's new policy towards medical marijuana. He also reiterated how the Libertarian Party has also been at the forefront for the decriminalization of medical marijuana and other forms of drugs.

Mr. Benedict also challenged the Obama Administration to end the "War On Drugs" calling it "destructive", "unconstitutional", and "unjust". He further stated that the "War On Drugs" contributed to an irregular and violent market based on drug trade and purchases.

While it is laudable that the Libertarians praise a President or other members of the government for a certain position, it is also important to stand together as a group and find way to obtain votes. In order to obtain votes, there must be a platform and consistency in a campaign.

While it is difficult to obtain votes or signatures secondary to the ballot access laws, there could be a two tiered solution. One is to have people gather signatures for the petitions and another to do actual campaigning. The Libertarians should be using all methods including the internet at their disposal.

Lastly, the Libertarians should change their minset from one of defeatist attitude to one of winning in spite of the obstacles. It has worked in local elections and can in state as well as Federal Elections.

Thanks for this article.  I think most Libertarians are in support.  I think it is somewhat ridiculous to have marijuana laws when most of America's problems are associated with Alcohol.  Having a background in Substance Abuse Treatment, I can say that Alcohol is the number one problem.
