<?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />Libya had Weapons of Mass Destruction. They were defenses against the United States, Israel, and OPEC, since Libya saw the massive military buildup with Iraq and Iran, and the continued military terror in the Middle East. Libya has denounced its nuclear program in favor to American demands, but in reality the promise is that American and Western governments will enhance Libya’s ability to obtain these weapons under the direction and control of American private military industry, for their oil
.
2007 Libya is disenfranchised because America has not come forward with the agreed upon concessions in getting Libya to renounce its weapons program. This goes to prove that Libya very well may start it up again. American defense contractors will benefit from sales to Libya while also gaining Libyan oil.
It was also a bargain for Libya that if they admit to the Lockerbie bombing and make payment to victim families while giving up their so-called nuclear ambitions then America will drop economic sanctions against them.
It also takes away the thought that an American CEO planned the Lockerbie hit while blaming Libya, in an attempt to buyout Pan Am.
In my view Kaddafi is a terrorist on the loose, who has killed westerners while Saddam was only defending his country from Western forces, and the Turk-Kurds Civil War that spilled over into his country.
Easy for Turkey to be hunting Kurd rebels to see Iraqis and think they are Kurds and kill them, afterward blaming Saddam. Easy for Kurds to kill Iraqis and blame Turkey so Saddam unknowingly allows Kurds to stay in Iraq to fight Turkey. In the meantime they all blame Saddam.
I ask Bush; how does he know? Intelligence proved there were no WMD. If they didn’t get that easy bit of information right, how can they blame the killings of mass graves on Saddam, through the inner circles and protracted Civil War in Turkey that spilled over into Iraq? If we don’t know for sure, how can one justify military action?
It is clear that the action was to secure Oil supplies from Iraq, and the bit about bringing Democracy to Iraq was a political cover. So they hung Saddam and have created a long term protracted occupation, which will go on indefinitely.
What really insets my mind is that Bush will justify his actions against Saddam by invading Iraq, but has no qualms to buddy up to Kaddafi.
After all Saddam never blew an airliner out of the sky. And now the American and British governments are simply blinking their eyes the other way, while accepting cash for Libya’s trespass.
So does this make sense to you? Saddam kills Turkish Kurds who want to have a Turkish civil war in Iraq whom America calls Kurds and say they are Saddam’s own people. Saddam kills no Americans or British or Western people and actually helps the US by invading Iran after the Shah was deposed.
Yet Bush and Blair get damn mad justifying an invasion because Saddam wanted Iraq’s Kuwait returned to them. It was as if America didn’t owe Saddam any thing for using his men and countrymen to wage War against Iran in the 80’s.
But Kaddafi orchestrated an airline hijacking along with connections to the first WTC bombing which killed none of his people, and killed many Western people and the West simply forgives, with a promise of money from the Libyan government?
And maybe he is playing the scapegoat like binLadin when in fact the Republican CIA was behind the Lockerbie Bombing and the first WTC bombing. He was also a target when bombed by Ronald Reagan. And he is still able to go on doing business as usual? Who in the Lord is speaking about this fiasco?

Strange you might ask that Bush would work out a deal with Kaddafi who is known to be a terrorist, but did not with Saddam or binLadin? Strange that it appears the Law Firms are more interested in making their money, than the idea they are doing something of Justice for the Victims?
Two decades after a bomb blew Pan Am Flight 103 from the skies over Lockerbie, Scotland, the victims' families have finally received the full compensation Libya promised. And a lobbying firm that helped them collect is getting its share: A tidy $2 million.
The payout to
Quinn Gillespie & Associates is rare, even for Washington's lucrative influence business. Of 18,989 reported lobbying fees collected last year, just 24 hit the $1 million mark, according to the nonpartisan Center for Responsive Politics, which traces political influence in Washington.
A report the lobbying firm filed in January and interviews with participants illuminate a little-noticed side of the long battle the victims' families waged in Washington, including how they were guided behind the scenes by experts in the capital's ways.
Quinn Gillespie's payment covers work it did from 2006 through 2008 helping the relatives plot strategy, generate publicity and arrange meetings at the State Department and elsewhere.
The 1988 blast killed all 259 people on the jetliner, including 180 Americans, plus 11 on the ground. After extended negotiations, Libya agreed to pay restitution of $10 million to each family of a victim. Payment of the final $2 million to each family became stalled, and the families hired the lobbying firm to help them collect it.
Get a load of that? The victims to the Lockerbie Bombing had the right to have a lawsuit commence that awarded damages.......yet the 911 victims were not given the right to sue.....they could only accept pre-arranged compensation. Why is that?
Think of the consequences of an open trial of plaintiffs against the airlines and the government. Think of the discovery and of all the facts which could be used to prove those thousands of 9-11 deaths were murders, conceivably by domestic killers with foreign allies. The cost would be the heads of those in our government and their associates. Thus the $7 billion in Victim Fund’s payout was a small price to pay for the silence it produced.
But, after five-and-a-half years, not one single victim’s case from 9-11 has even been heard in a court of law? In spite of the fact that the United States is known as a litigious society with an abundance of aggressive lawyers so why grant trials and award compensation from a said terrorist, yet not grant trials for the 911 victims?
Could it be that the US CIA needed the money to pay Libyan blackmailers...who know the US really setup the Lockerbie bombing, and that they needed money to pay Libya first in order to get the fake admission compensation from Libya for the US victims?
911 was a big money maker, and the attack got Libya to renounce its nuclear program? In fact having trials for 911 victims would not only expose the Bush people intricate involvement...but lead all the way back to Libya and the bombing done by the Reagan Administration.

Last time around, the Israelis tricked Reagan into bombing Libya after the La Belle discotheque in Berlin was hit by a terrorist attack and two American servicemen died. As it turns out, the main suspects in the bombing
worked for the Mossad and the CIA. As former Mossad agent
Victor Ostrovsky writes in his book, By Way of Deception, Israel made it appear terrorist orders were being transmitted from the Libyan government to its embassies around the world. Gaddafi and the Libyans are simply no match for the Mossad and the CIA.
Now that Gaddafi is passing out money to the peasants, it is possible something else terrible will happen to the Libyan people. After all, the bankers and the loan sharks on Wall Street don’t take kindly to Arabs passing out their money.

Some very valid points, but you have to keep a few things in mind ...
Saddam was "axed", I guess he didn't want to play ball with the west anymore (as with so many figures in history),
If you want a reason or a person to blame - follow the money trail, everyone thinks Bush was the baddie? give it some time and you'll be saying the same about the current cutout in the oval office, think you need to worry about the real people pulling the strings behind the scenes.
Half of the problems you see today are from corruption and who wants the most power and control over people, resources and lands, etc. Gadaffi is "playing ball" at present, but for what reason - your guess is as good as mine, maybe they promised him a really nice pot of gold down the line.
Guess it might be a little different with him, ie. he really actually was in the firing line, family members were killed, etc. -Or maybe it was an accident, but I don't think he was on the payrole/playing games (like the b'lardens) back in the bad old days.

Thanks for your comment Carledb. My point of the article is that they made deals with a terrorist which did not end up in a protracted war or invasion of Lybia....why wasn't that offered to Saddam and Bin Laden?
Saddam had more military technology and Bin Laden family is involved with Saudi politics, but still the US used their upper backhand approach with Saddam all the time, in comparison to Kaddafi. Granted the regional politics are different....but I truely think the administrations were too hard on them......instead of giving assurances a chance to take root.
I agree Obama is backing the Iraq War....He lied big time during the campaign. Kaddafi I believe has been playing ball with the US for a very long time. And he had nothing to do with the first WTC bombing or Lockerbie. Notice he gave up his weapons program just after Saddam was toppled.....as if a signal that he is afraid of the US invading Libya, so decided to change his mind....this was done to make the world believe American Military is nothing to mess with.....so surrender all you anti-american countries. Perhaps it was a stab at getting Iran to fall in step.
Reagan killed his 4 year old daughter.....certainly did not make him give up his weapons program... He was paid money somewhere before the Lockerbie trials even began... Britain is involved in this as well....
So the terrorist Kaddafi who handed over money to US victims, still is in business today, even supported by the Bush people..Think they will indict Bush and Cheney? What a fiasco.
