NATO officials say that their aircraft have hit eight warships of pro Gadhafi forces in the Libyan port of Tripoli Al Khums and Sirte. A NATO statement says given the escalating use of naval asset it has no choice but to take decisive action to protect the civilian population of Libya and NATO forces at sea.
