Two people were badly hurt as an ultralight aircraft crashed on Salt Rock Beach, on the north coast of KwaZulu-Natal.

Netcare 911 spokesperson Chris Botha said the aircraft had crashed on the Salt Rock beach on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast.

"Two people are in a critical condition and paramedics are battling to stabilise them at present," he said.

He said both patients would be airlifted to nearby hospitals.

"One will be taken to Umhlanga hospital and the other will be taken to Alberlito where specialists are standing by to treat them," he said.
Police Search and Rescue spokesperson Inspector Troy Alison said he was aware of the crash and that his team were en-route to the scene.
(Umhlanga is just north of Durban, KwaZulu-Natal's major city)
