A lion is on the loose in Belfast, Northern Ireland today. Residents reported seeing the animal roaming around, and now authorities are searching for it with a helicopter and ground crews.

Could it be the lion from Belfast Zoo in this video?

A search for a large cat was launched in north Belfast last night after several members of the public reported seeing a lion on the loose.

Police officers and a PSNI helicopter were tasked to search for the animal in the Cavehill Park area of the city last night.

As news of the lion began to circulate, staff from the nearby Belfast Zoo carried out a check of all their big cats, including lions and tigers, and concluded all their animals were “accounted for”.

As light faded and no sightings of the large sandy-coloured animal were reported, the search was called off.

Dave Keating, I like this story. It's good stuff.  Why?  I am not sure, but it sure has a buzz about it.

Vladimir Putin is good at handling the big cats and he isn't busy right now.  Give him a call, he'll take care of the problem.

Well, this was in a zoo, in France. I'm not sure there's anything breathtaking about all that !

These photos were taken on a Junior Keeper for a day experience at Port Lympne where children accompanied by an adult spend a day getting up close to these animals (but not that close) It is a day to remember the keepers are fantastic and the group has it's own personal guide with you all day.If you are looking for a present for a kid that loves animals and they will never forget definitely look into this.

This beautiful lion was just enjoying the sunny day at Granby Zoo. He was so at peace that I had to capture it.

I caught this lioness right after she woke up from a nap and quickly stretched and took a bath. It was amazing to see how similar these big cat's habits are to my own house cats!
