Beverly Hills Socialite and Possible Heir To Samsung Electronics Arrested In Ohio With 509 Pounds Of Marijuana

For police and drug enforcement officials in California the 13 pieces of luggage Lisette Lee and her bodyguard were traveling with from Beverly Hills to Ohio was suspicious.

So, police and DEA officials in Ohio were tipped off and ready when the Lee's chartered plane landed at Port Columbus International Airport.

Inside the luggage police and DEA officials found 500 pounds of marijuana.

Authorities also confiscated three mobile phones, cocaine, drug paraphernalia and suspected drug ledgers that showed some $300,000 (£203,000) in transactions.

Lee told investigators that she chartered the plane from Van Nuys in California to Columbus to visit a boyfriend and transport equipment to a horse farm.

She said it was her fourth such trip.

Lisette Lee and three traveling companions were arrested and charged with conspiracy to sell and distribute drugs. Apparently, Lee claims she did not know she was transporting drugs though she admits she was likely transporting something illegal.

Officials say they are trying to confirm information that Lee is an heir to the Samsung electronics fortune. Agents say she told them her family has several multimillion-dollar businesses.

Lee arrived on a chartered Gulf Stream jet that cost $50,000 round trip.

She is being held without bond.
