A number of Western states are closing down their embassies in Yemen following threats from a Yemen-based Al-Qaeda group. The threats came from the same group that claimed responsibility for Flight 253 attempted bombing involving Nigerian national Umar Farouk Abdulmutallab. Moreover, Yemen authorities confirmed six trucks packed with explosives went missing in the capital, causing some countries to seriously reconsider keeping their embassies open.

Here is a list of the countries that have either closed down their embassies or restricted public access:

--France
--the US
--the UK
--Japan
--Germany
--Spain
--Czech Republic

Italy is set to follow suit and close its embassy in Yemen should it get approval from the European Union. South Korea is mulling shutting down their embassy as well.
