A showdown between two bottom-ranked nations, that for years have been trying to topple each other, has laid platform for a low-impact but nevertheless an interesting clash. It could not have been a better start for the hosts in the first Test as they beat Bangladesh by a huge margin of 335 runs and took 1-0 lead in the two match Test series. The visitors looked vulnerable right from the beginning and have only themselves to blame for the dismal performance they put up. Zimbabwe will look to capitalize on this new-found confidence and strengthen their good run against Bangladesh. Meanwhile, the visitors will hope to redeem themselves in a must-win situation and look to avenge the humiliating loss of last week.
The hosts have been in incredible form and they will hoping to extend this winning momentum to clinch a series victory over their long-time rivals. After tasting five consecutive defeats at the hands of top teams like Pakistan, New Zealand and West Indies, the triumphant Zimbabwean team will bank on home advantage and utilize Harare's conditions to their benefit to crush Bangladesh and deal the final blow required to secure the two-match Test series.
High on the unexpectedly spectacular form they showed against Sri Lanka, Bangladesh were expected to fight with much more confidence and vigour when they took on a seemingly frail Zimbabwean team. However, not only did they put up a disappointing performance but also failed to extend the match beyond four days and were thrashed by a massive margin. They are still searching for their first Test win over Zimbabwe and one can hope that the wounded Bangladeshi pride will lead the way to help the visitors level this series.
