Coded Message from Irish Republican Dissidents

The London Metropolitan Police received a coded bomb threat from an Irish republican dissident group, causing a police sweep through central London.

Those speaking for Northern Irish separatist terrorist groups have established code words with the police, so that the police know whether or not they are dealing with a hoax.

BreakingNews reports this as an "IRA bomb threat", but we don't see anything yet to explicitly confirm IRA involvement, as opposed to blaming one of the several splinter groups.

The London police investigated a disturbed manhole cover near Carlton House as well as a "suspicious package", but neither incident is necessarily related to the bomb threat.

The threat comes on the day before the Queen is set to visit Ireland for the first time: the timing of the bomb threat is surely no coincidence. In April, separatist group the Real IRA released a message stating the the Queen was not welcome on Irish soil.

The Mall and Buckingham Palace are currently cordoned off and receiving extra police scrutiny.
