London Mayor Party Election Broadcast 2012 VIDEO'S
The 2012 London mayoral election will be held on Thursday 3 May 2012 to elect the Mayor of London. It will be the fourth election since the office of Mayor of London was created in 2000.
Incumbent Conservative Boris Johnson (1/4 favorite) is seeking re-election for a second term as Mayor. The Mayor from 2000 to 2008, Ken Livingstone, (3/1) is seeking a third, non-consecutive term as the Labour candidate, and Brian Paddick (100/1) is standing for the Liberal Democrats. All of these candidates also stood for these parties in the previous election in 2008.
Siobhan Benita is an Independent (50/1), Lawrence Webb is standing for UKIP (250/1) and Jenny Jones (250/1) is standing for the Green Party. and Carlos Cortiglia is standing for the BNP (500/1).
All registered electors (British, Irish, Commonwealth and European Union citizens) living in London who will be aged 18 or over on Thursday 3 May 2012 are entitled to vote in the mayoral election. Those who are temporarily away from London (for example, away working, on holiday, in student accommodation or in hospital) are also entitled to vote in the mayoral election. The deadline to register to vote in the election is midnight on Wednesday 18 April 2012, though anyone who qualifies as an anonymous elector has until midnight on Thursday 26 April 2012 to register.
