Farmers & Merchants Bank in Long Beach Was Target of a Bank Robber Today

In Long Beach Friday morning, three people were shot, but none of them seriously, in an attempted bank robbery. It was around 10:30am local time when the suspect entered the bank armed, fired four gunshots and attempted to rob the bank.

The wounded were transported to hospital but they will all recover from their injuries.

Alice Ramirez, who was working nearby as a meter reader told KTLA News that she thought the gunshots were construction work and it was only after she looked through the glass that she saw three people lying on the floor. She told two people in the parking lot to call 911.

Ramirez said moments later a man came out of the bank yelling, "Those were gunshots, Go, go, go!"

According to Jesus Obeso, whose daughter works in the bank as a teller, it was a customer who grabbed the gunman from behind and that the customer who did so was among the shooting victims.

Suspect Could be the Sports Bike Bandit

It is not confirmed but FBI officials told a KTLA reporter called Chip Yost that the suspect who was caught may be the famous Sports Bike Bandit, who is responsible for a number of bank robberies in the area and who always made his getaway on a sports motorcycle.

They speculate this to be the case because a bright red sports motorcycle was found near the scene of the bank robbery on Friday.
