LTTE Attacks Sri Lanka Village; Shot dead Three person on Monday

Continuing their violence outside their remaining "Eezham" LTTE terrorists attacked a Sri Lankan village and shot dead three persons on Tuesday.


In a similar attack the LTTE terrorists  massacred nine people including an infant on Sunday.


In another development, LTTE continued their attacks on Sri Lankan army from the No Fire Zone, hiding behind civilian hostages. One Sri Lankan soldier killed in sniper fire and another one soldier was injured in artillery gunfire.



At least three civilians were shot dead by suspected Tamil Tiger rebels in Sri Lanka's south eastern region, defense officials said Tuesday.


Brigadier Udaya Nanayakkara, the military spokesman, said that Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) had carried out the attack at Galvetiyamandiya village in the Moneragala district at around 7p.m. local time (1330 GMT) Monday.


This was the second similar attack recently in the region by the Tamil Tigers.


Some nine villagers were killed when LTTE gunmen stormed a village in the Buttala area Sunday night.

Meanwhile, the Defence Ministry said the LTTE, which continued to occupy the NFZ keeping entrapped civilians as hostages, directed sniper gunfire towards troops on Monday killing a soldier at a distant defensive position in the general area of Puthukkudiyiruppu. It said another soldier was injured in artillery gunfire.
