LTTE "Finance Minister" Tamilenthi has been killed - SL Army

The financial head and the overall incharge of LTTE's vast financial network Tamilenthi was killed by Sri Lankan Army. SLA calimed that he was killed in a mortar attack.

Millions of dollars were collected worldwide  to LTTE "war effort" throught contributions from tamil diaspora, credit card fraud and extrotion. Tamilenthi was the sole incharge of these enormouse wealth.

Sri Lankan Army claimed that now there is only 35 kms area is controlled by LTTE.

COLOMBO, March 11 (Xinhua) -- Sri Lanka's military claimed Wednesday that a senior official in charge of the rebel Tamil Tigers' financial affairs has been killed by the government troops in current fighting.

    Sabaratnam Selvaturai alias Tamilenthi was killed in the weekend fighting at Puthukkudiyiruppu, the last rebel stronghold in the north, Army officials said Wednesday.

    However the military is unable to confirm the exact date when he had been killed.

    Tamilenthi headed the finance division of the Liberation Tigersof Tamil Eelam (LTTE) and was regarded a trusted confidante of therebel leader Velupillai Prabakaran.

    The rebels have been limited to a small patch in the northern Mullaittivu district after the military recorded unprecedented success in the current military campaign started in 2006.

    The troops are on the look out for Prabakaran and his deputy Pottu Amman both wanted by Indian government for the murder trial of former Indian Prime Minister Rajiv Gandhi.
