Seven innocent Tamil civilians including two children, on their way to cleared areas seeking protection for their lives, were gunned down by the LTTE terrorists this morning, 10 January.

According to the military sources, the civilians from Murusamoddai and Kanchipuram areas, were on their way to security forces' controlled area when they were attacked inhumanly by LTTE terrorists deployed on possible escaping routes to prevent civilian movement.

Two children, two females and three males are among the victims, military sources added.

However, 49 more civilians of the same group caught up in the LTTE fire luckily managed to arrive at troops in Paranthan. Two of them also sustained injuries while others shocked due to the fatal experience.

24 children, 13 females and 12 males were able to escapes the LTTE's grip amidst LTTE gunfire, sources said.

The necessary treatments were given for the victims and later directed them to the welfare centers established in the Vavuniya area.

The bodies of innocent Tamil civilians have already been taken to hospital, military sources added.

This is not the first time this has happened in North and East either. Fear of the terrorist  head Prabhakaran that people of these parts had for years has been rapidly disappearing for the past 2 years and they try to escape knowing full well the risk to their lives.

It is sad.
But I cannot help but be amused at this latest ebay stunt :)

Suggestion:
Why don't they offer the bidder a chance to go and speak to all the civilians in one place (wherever they are kept under them) at the same time instead of speaking to this one selected individual? No need of giving 24 hrs, just 10 mnts to speak to everyone. Oh, do not forget to include all of the suffering mothers and fathers who still have not been able to forget their precious children. (abducted and lost)
(Please note, i'm not being serious)

Some things to note:

"The main reason for this depletion is the ban on media by the Sri Lankan government to enter the conflict zone."
- Most private TV stations in Sri Lanka have been reporting the ongoing war for a long time, with their journalists reporting from the frontlines. There is daily coverage by these media stations.

"less than ten bombing missions using rudimentary air crafts by tamil forces."
- Please do not dishonor the respectable, innocent, suffering, peace loving Tamil citizens of Sri Lanka by using the term 'tamil forces' for barbaric Prabhakaran's forces, who do not care about the suffering or the future of people in North and East.
