The quote above claims "Tamils are not my enemies"...however, that unfortunately does seem to be the general Sri Lankan view:

1) 1940s-1950s - Sinhalese was made as the only language of Sri Lanka (Tamil was no longer a "Sri Lankan language")

2) A succession of presidents have since been supporting mobs to attack and vanadalise Tamil homes

3) 1983 riots - Tamils were openly massacred by the Sri Lankan government

4) Present - 70,000 Tamil people have been killed by their "own" government

The present government offers false propaganda, no access to the UN and no freedom of Speech (Sri Lanka is considered to be the riskiest place for a journalist to report from).

Please guys...there is a clear divide - whilst the Sinhalese are celebrating, Tamils are mourning.

They had 2 different countries before 1940s...why not restore that.

Tamils and Sinhalese people CANNOT LIVE TOGETHER - they've been arguing in England, let alone Sri Lanka.

Jonathan, anybody can say anything as you say without any evidence. Those are rumours and no one could prove them.See the way USA attacks to Iraq and Afganistan. In iraq there are only 2.7 million people alive.but when they put the bombs from air ,there were more than 1million innocent people had killed. But in sri lankan army, when they do rescue mission to safe the TAMIL PEOPLE we did not fight with heavy weapons.we fought with guns only.they prepare food for the tamil civilians who escaped from LTTE areas.b4 you point your fingers to others, guide America and England to be correct 1 st.if you hv a small brain you will realized the difference between these two parties.

He is not dead.  He is a God for us ( True tamils)  We can't see God but one God I see who is Our respectable leader Prabaharan

JOTHlka,

Every man has a god in his soul. But this Prabhakaran had thousands of devils in his soul. We have experienced this for years and years. Now change your mind and sing prayers to your Hindu Gods. We, Sri Lankans always believe in your Hindu Gods and God Kataragama as well.
