LTTE Leader Vellupille Praba’s remains to be buried in Wanni Sri Lanka.

The body of LTTE chief Velupillai Prabhakaran and other leaders will be buried in the Wanni,Sri Lanka Military spokesman said today. The Sri Lankan Military has collected over 350 bodies LTTE cadres after the final battle.

The bodies of Mathvathani Erambu, identified as Prabhakaran’s wife and a girl Duvaraka and a young boy Balachandran identified as Prabhakaran’s children were found in the vicinity of the body of LTTE leader Velupillai Prabhakaran, according to a report today qouting the army.

Commander of Sri Lanka Army General Sarath Fonseka has confirmed that the body of V.Prabhakaran, psychopathic leader of world's most barbaric terrorist outfit Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE) has been found short while ago (May 19).

According to the defence sources, the LTTE leader who has ordered thousands of Tamil youth to give up their lives for him has tried to save his life until the last moment.

The world most dangerous Terrorist organization LTTE Leader Velupillai Prabhakaran was shot dead while trying to flee Sri Lankan Army today morning 18th May 2009.

The leader of the LTTE, Velupillai Prabhakaran, was shot dead while trying to flee government troops, a senior defence official told AFP.

Prabhakaran tried to flee the area in an ambulance along with two close aides, but was ambushed and killed, the senior defence ministry official said on condition he not be named.

“He was killed with two others inside the vehicle. There will be a formal announcement later,” the official said.AFP.

Up to now Sri Lankan Troops have uncovered the bodies, suspected to be of Ilango (LTTE ‘Police’ wing chief), Sundaram (Charles Anthony’s close aide) and Kapil Amman, Charles Anthony ;LTTE chief’s son, Pottuamman ;LTTE intelligence wing leader, Bhanu;another top level LTTE military leader, Nadesan, Puleethevan, Ramesh and Soosai.

Army foils LTTE's last attempt to evacuate its leaders; bodies being identified Sri Lankan army elites and infantrymen of 53, 58 and 59 Divisions have foiled the LTTE's last attempt to evacuate its top leaders this morning (May 18). According to the latest battlefield reports, soldiers have located over 150 bodies of LTTE cadres so far. The process of identifying the terrorist bodies is in progress.

With this attack LTTE has lost all its key positions and its remnants are now limited to tiny pockets scattered in the Karayamullavaikkal area, the sources said. All army units are now engaged in the final mop up operations.

LTTE terrorists made their final bid to evacuate its leaders early this morning as army elites pierced in to the last remaining LTTE foothold last night. The terrorist have managed took hold of two vehicles and believed to have put their senior leaders into those vehicles before they started moving northwards. According to the available information army elites and 53 Division soldiers have intercepted and crushed the terrorist move after fierce fighting.

Troops have so far identified bodies of Charles Anthony, the eldest son of LTTE chief V.Prabhakaran , B. Nadesan, LTTE's political head, S. Pulidevan , LTTE's head of peace secretariat, S. Ramesh, A special military leader, Kapil Amman, LTTE's deputy intelligence leader, Sudarman , the aide to Prabhakarn's son, Rathnam Master , a black tiger leader and Ilango, another senior LTTE leader.

Velupillai Prabhakaran (Tamil: வேலுப்பிள்ளை பிரபாகரன்; born November 26, 1954) is the founder and leader of the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (the Tamil Tigers), a militant organization that seeks to create an independent Tamil state in the north and east of Sri Lanka. Claiming they have faced discrimination at the hands of the sucessive Sri Lankan governments, the Tamil Tigers have waged a violent secessionist campaign in Sri Lanka that has led to them been designated as terrorist organization by 32 countries.

Prabhakaran is currently wanted by Interpol for terrorism, murder, organized crime and terrorism conspiracy.[2] He also has arrest warrents against him in Sri Lanka and India. After evading capture for 25 years, the Sri Lankan government announced in May 2009 that Prabhakaran and several other senior Tamil Tiger leaders were trapped in a small stretch of land on the Mullaithivu coast. On May 17, 2009, Sri Lanka's government announced that Prabhakaran is dead.[3].

The vehicle believed to be transporting a group of LTTE leaders was attacked by the army and caught fire in Vellamulaivakal today. The bodies have yet to be identified according to the Sri Lankan military.

Military Sources state that many of the bodies of most of the top level LTTE terrorist leaders are yet to be identified. However troops have identified the bodies of former LTTE intelligence wing leader Pottuamman and another top level LTTE military leader Bhanu by now.

Mop-up operations continue: Kapil Amman, Ilango also among dead

Sri Lankan security forces continuing mop-up operations at the 100m x 100m remaining land patch, North of Vellamullivaikkal have uncovered three more bodies of key LTTE leaders, this morning (May 18).

According to latest battlefield reports received, the 53 and 58 Division troops including Special Forces and Commandos have uncovered the bodies, suspected to be of Ilango (LTTE 'Police' wing chief), Sudarman (Charles Anthony's close aide) and Kapil Amman( LTTE intelligence wing). The bodies were found abandoned in the area, the sources further said.

Troops also confirmed many more terrorist bodies lying scattered in the area which are yet to be identified.

Nadeshan who was a former police constable of Sri Lanka police and known to be the political head of the outfit. Pulidevan was known to the head of "LTTE peace secretariat" while Ramesh was one of the most senior special military leader of the outfit.

LTTE terrorists abandon their chief's son; body found [Updated]

Sri Lanka Army special forces soldiers have found a body suspected to be of Charles Anthony, the elder son of LTTE chief V. Prabhakaran in the Karayamullavaikkal area this morning (May 18).

According to the defence sources in the battlefront, the body was found after an unsuccessful and half-hearted attempt by the LTTE cadres to evacuate their leader's son early this morning.

Charles Anthony was known to be the head of Information and Technology department of the LTTE. It is said that the LTTE leader was compelled to recruit his son to the outfit to avoid criticism over his hypocrisy. The LTTE leader was often criticised for sending thousands of child soldiers to war while giving a luxurious life and best of education to his own children. Charles Anthony was given a very senior position in the outfit after establishing a special non-fighting unit for him.

According to latest battlefield reports received, Army elites are now continuing the final mop-up operations at the last 100m x100m LTTE foothold, North of Vellamullivaikkal.

Velupillai Prabhakaran may not have visualised his own macabre end as a mud-covered and practically naked corpse on a makeshift stretcher, but that is how it turned out to be. Despite the inherently cruel voyeurism of officially publishing the pictures of his body, Sri Lanka had to do so if only to prevent mythologies from being built around someone whose childhood hero was ‘Phantom: the ghost who walks’.
The photographs displayed on the website of Sri Lanka’s Ministry of Defence, Public Security, Law and Order, offer some telling insights into the final moments of the world’s most ruthless insurgent.
The personal effects recovered from Prabhakaran included a Thuraya satellite phone, a preferred means of communication among terrorists and insurgents, a pistol, a dog tag, and his Tamil Tigers identity card.
It is extraordinary that an official agency of a sovereign government would find it appropriate to use the kind of description accompanying the photographs. It is gloating and derisive in its tone.
“Ironically, he was found with no cyanide capsule, but with his identity card and the dog tag, as to prove his identity if he managed to seek refuge with some unknown saviour. He was certainly not a man enough to fight a single battle against (the) Army. Instead, he tried to save his life until the last moment. Not for a single second he wanted to commit suicide, he tried to escape betraying his most loyal followers before a soldier shot him down. We are not going to comment on how he died..... Simply, he was the best of the cowards.”
According to the ministry, Prabhakaran’s body was identified by Vinayagamoorthi Muralidaran, the minister of national integration and reconciliation, who once fought for the Liberation Tigers of Tamil Eelam (LTTE), and Daya Master, its former media spokesman.

Without the physical evidence of his death, the Sri Lankan government would have found it impossible to lend its campaign a persuasive closure. It is instructive that even with the pictures of the body being published, the sympathisers of the Tamil Tigers have claimed that Prabhakaran is still “alive and safe.”
The purpose behind not sanitising the photos seemed to be to convey to his surviving followers that in the final analysis their hero was nothing more than an ordinary mortal who hid behind a carefully cultivated persona. That is unlikely to deter the remaining members of the Tamil Tigers outside Sri Lankafrom believing that what was on display was an imposter and not the real Prabhakaran.
It is not clear whether his body will be handed over to his family or kept for more tests. It is not inconceivable that the Sri Lankan government may apprehend that handing over the body could lead to a troublesome funeral.
There were reports soon after the fall of Kilinochchi, the LTTE capital, in January that Prabhakaran had sent away his wife Madivadani and 10-year-old son Balachandran. It was not known where they might have gone but they can rightfully claim his remains. Whether Colombo will oblige is another matter since it is fraught with problems. - (The Hindu/IANS).

Prabhakaran’s body cremated

The military yesterday said the body of LTTE leader Vellupillai Prabhakaran was cremated in Mullaitivu on Wednesday.
“His body was cremated in Mullaitivu and treated like the body of any other terrorist,” Military spokesman Udaya Nanayakkara told the Daily Mirror yesterday.
The Media Centre for National Security (MCNS) Director General Lakshman Hulugalle confirmed the report saying: “His body was treated like that of any other terrorist and cremated. That is all we have been informed,” he said.

Violence by LTTE is over. But Violence against Innocent Tamil civilians by the Goverment will still continue! LTTE only came into play in 1983. But the state sponsored violence against Tamils was there from 1948. This is a 'victory' for the State Terrorism.

The Sinhalese majority wil discriminate the tamils as always.

There are thousands of Tamil civilians killed. But the government doesn't care about these people.

Prabhakarans NOT DEAD!!! those videos and pictures could easily be made on the computer!! even i could make them!!! The tamil leaders escaped too they said that prabakaran and two leader died in an ambulance while trying to ESCAPE!! he would never try to escape and it was prabakarans SON who was killed with the two leadeers. His ELDEST son. The other leaders told the three main people to leave so that the left over tamils might still have a chance and so prabakaran left his son in his place.

An LTTE vehicle believed to be carrying top Tiger leaders was hit by RPG fire this morning at Vellamullivaikkal, sources say. The vehicle caught fire but the bodies of the occupants have been recovered and are in the process of being identified. Meanwhile, Tiger communications have come to a standstill immediately after the attack, the sources said.

I think you are right my friend, i dont think Prabhakaran will let himself till the end to be killed, he must have escaped, remember his son was educated in America to build submarines, i think they fled in that, also t took as many civillians with them, 25,000 apparently as much as they could, eventhough i am not a supporter of the terrorist group, Ltte, i do not believe that they were the ones who used phosperous againt the civillians, i must admit that i think its the government, as they realeashed news of Ltte having gas bombs months ago and used this as an excuse to attack the civillians.

I also hate to say majority of Sinhaleese people are against tamils, like already events are happening abduction, rape and murder, and yet its been a couple of days.

Eventhough i myself is a sinhaleese i don't think anyone deserves this just because they have a differnt mother tongue.

Eventhough i do not like tamils, i dont think they deserved this, i think there should be different states, before Ltte returns and destroys our peace, our land like the government done to "Tamil Eelam". As Ltte is very revengeful, it is said that Prabhakaran started to protest as he had seen women getting raped with his own eyes, as he was not heard, he started this terrorist campaign.

I hope nothing bad happens to the sinhaleese community
