TruemorsThe leader of the LTTE, Velupillai Prabhakaran, was shot dead while trying to flee government troops, a senior defence official told AFP.
Prabhakaran tried to flee the area in an ambulance along with two close aides, but was ambushed and killed, the senior defence ministry official said on condition he not be named.
“He was killed with two others inside the vehicle. There will be a formal announcement later,” the official said.AFP.

If the path taken By Nethaji, Bhagath Singh, Chandra sekhar Azad, Kudhiram Bose and many others are considered as path to freedom fighting, y not the same credit go to the great freedom fighter Velupillai Prabhakar? If we Indians consider Nethaji Subash Chandra Bose as d boldest freedom fighter then I may claim tat Velupillai Prabhakar is the boldest freedom fighter in <?xml:namespace prefix = st1 />India. Cos Nethaji finally fled away from India to Singapore and died there but bold Velupillai Prabhakar died in Vanni Forest, Srilanka. He fought for tamil people's freedom not for his own interest. The heartless people enjoying Velupillai's death should understand history of Tamil Elam fighting. Srilanka is having separate rights for Sinhalese and Tamilials. Subash Bose did not kill Hindus and Indians in his struggle. Not so Prabhakaran, he killed all co-Tamil leaders that wanted peace. He is a terrorist, terrorising even Tamil children into forced war, collecting cess from Tamils in that region, all the while his kids enjoyed everything in western countries. Charled was only brought back in Srilanka to counter the latter accusation.
Please do not malign an Indian hero by comparing him to a Tamil terrorist. Just analyze how many Tamil leaders did this Tamil Tiger kill in Sri Lanka - add to that who all he killed in Pondy Bazar Chennai and the 13 EPLO leaders in Kodambakkam in 1990.

What is not acceptable is whether you choose to harm others to follow your path. What is difference between a soldier and a terrorist? They both are violent. They both kill. They both kill innocent people. The difference is one kills FOR the nation and other kills THE NATION.
How can it be possible to find a way out with so much violence. Did Prabhakaran achieve what he wanted? Can he now save the people he was fighting for. He left a bleeding nation and those in support of him are left alive to face a life not even fit for animals.

Look at the end of the day, its some form of hate that caused this war between people who once lived as one, we as youths should be learning from the mistakes of the ones before us. I dont know why you (SINHALAM ALIHA) would want such a horrific thing such as cancer to plaugue a nationality of people, especially when theres those who have suffered from the sinhalese community as those of your community. I understand that many of you believe that the LTTE fought for their people, you guys may feel that you have been and are being oppressed and by all means you have the right to believe that. But understand this, Srilanka is home to sinhala, tamil, muslim and whomever calls that small country home, if you believe that your freedom is somehow prevented in that country, there are ways to go about it without oppting to violence. Please understand as the LTTE believe that their people freedom is their right, the Srilankan goverment would feel that they need to protect theirs. By cursing people you are no better then those you curse, you show no humanity either. The rapes of innocent women can never be forgiven or forgotten however acts made by a minority do not reflect on the majority. For nearly 30 years it has been the inncoent people that have suffered neither government nor leaders or you and I have suffered as much as those that were caught in the middle , those that didnt have a voice to speak sinhala, tamil & muslim alike. Ive always seen my SriLanka as one that is filled with a variety of religion and culture for its size why cant we just live as one without this hate and move forward. the past 3 decades have been the darkest for srilanka but i think its time that we rise out of the ashes and be people from one country and not two nationalities.
