Colombian governor Luis Francisco Cuellar was found dead after he was kidnapped from his house on Monday. Luis Francisco Cuellar was the governor southern Caqueta province in Colombia. His body was found with several bullet wounds, and explosives strapped to his body. Officials believe Mr Cuellar might have been killed soon after he was kidnapped.

Officials believe it was the work of Farc, Colombia's left-wing rebel group, but the Farc has not claimed responsibility.

This was not the first time governor Cuellar was kidnapped.

The Associated Press news agency said Mr Cuellar had been kidnapped four times in the past 23 years, for between two and seven months each time.

Speaking before the body was found, his wife told AP a ransom had been paid to secure his release on previous occasions.

The Farc still holds more than 20 police officers and soldiers, who were captured more than a decade ago. It is believed that the group also kidnapped hundreds more for ransom.
