An accomplished visual artist by 2002, M.I.A. came to prominence in early 2004 through file-sharing of her singles "Galang" and "Sunshowers" on the Internet.[2] She released her Mercury Prize-nominated debut album Arular in 2005. Her second album, Kala, was released in 2007 and gained her mainstream chart success. She has been nominated for two Grammy Awards and an Academy Award.

Her compositions have been noted to encompass various genres, often with political lyricism and artwork. M.I.A. has described her music style as being "other."[3] In addition to her work as a graphic designer, providing artwork and photography for releases and as a director of music videos, she has also experimented with documentary film and in 2008 released a collection of her fashion designs. She is the founder of the record label N.E.E.T.

In 2009, the TIME magazine placed M.I.A in the Time 100 list of "World's Most Influential people" for having "global influence across many genres".[4][5]

Further she keep posting her status of Eelam Tamils in her twitter too...Few messages.

How can you have China, India & Pakistan voting when they themselves were part of this atrocities? OR how can China vote on Human Rights!

later after all the tamils buried in Srilanka -start kidding what ever the way you want. Because nobody will be there to listen.

We don't ask you to take part of the Tamil's pain and we only ask keep quite at least for time being at a situation that more than 20000 Tamils killed in MulliVaikkal.

You don't have respect Tamils . we know.

You never have any value towards a single Tamil's life - we know.

But treat Tamils as human and consider your condolences at least as a human. Please , Please , Please again , don't play with our feelings.

It it not time for you to stop?

Do you still support eelam and the 30 years of war happened because of tamil chauvinism? Why are you, an Indian citizen, supporting the doomed terrorist organization LTTE's remnants in tamil diaspora ? Do you have any idea how many Indian “tamil’ fisherman were got shot at and killed by Sri Lankan navy because LTTE terrorists were exploiting their innocence to run supplies and weapons for them?

We know that the LTTE sympathizers in tamil Diaspora use the images of dead tamils as a bargaining tool for their insane dream of "dumeel eelam". It is you who don't have value for human life. How can you conveniently close your eyes at those non-tamils died in Sri Lanka over 30 years because of violence caused by a an insane, megalomaniac thug and hallucination of few brain-dead"diasporans".

Tell me one thing. Why-O-why you mourn only "tamil"? How did you decide that only "tamils" have pain, "tamil" need respect and "tamil" only killed? Can you explain how “tamil” life is so special and precious?

Yeah, I have no respect for those "tamil" who only see other "tamil" as human beings. Who hate anything that is not "tamil". Who think only "tamil" have a culture. Who shout on the roof top that only "tamil" is the greatest language of the world - rest are all trash. Do you know that this attitude has created problem in Sri Lanka. Yes, ‘tamil” chauvinism is the problem in Sri Lanka.

So please don't play with the rest of the world's feelings. You have seen what will happen if you do. Don't bring one more carnage like what happened recently to the Sri Lankan tamils. Realize what you people are doing and put a full stop now. Please..!
