Macy's Fire in New York Causes Evacuation

A fire at Macy's flagship store in Manhattan prompted an evacuation. No injuries were reported. The fire started in the Macy's store subbasement, and did not reach the retail area. The Macy's fire broke out at 11:40am and was put out just over an hour later, according to FDNY.

Macy's had an escalator fire during last year's holiday shopping season.

It is an all-hands fire that was still being fought at 12:40 p.m. There are no reported injuries.
