The crew of the hijacked cargo ship the Maersk Alabama arrived in Maryland from Kenya early this morning.  They had to fly home without their captain, who'd been held by pirates for five days last week.

Captain Richard Phillips has now arrived in Kenya, one day later than expected.     The Navy ship USS Bainbridge that he was on board helped thwart another pirate attack on an American freighter just yesterday.

He plans to fly back to the United States later today.

A plane carrying about 30 people, including the 19 members of the ship's crew and several company officials, landed at 12:55 a.m. today at Andrews Air Force Base. About three dozen waiting family members, many of them children, walked in the dark across the rainy tarmac to meet their loved ones. Many waved American flags as the plane taxied toward them.
