USGS reports an earthquake with magnitude 5.8 centered 310km SSE of General Santos City in the Philippines.
JAKARTA - A 5.8-MAGNITUDE earthquake shook an area between Indonesia and the Philippines early on Monday, geologists said, but there were no immediate reports of casualties or damage. The US Geological Survey said the epicentre was about 310km south-south-east of General Santos in the southern Philippines. The quake, which struck at 1.45am on Monday (1745 GMT Sunday, 1.45am Singapore time) was located around 38km below sea level. No tsunami warning was immediately issued. -- AFP
