Mahanta Vs. Hussain in Assam Poll battle - India

The two political heavy weights of Assam in India
criticized each other today in Nagaon at two different press meets
called by the duo separately. The former Chief Minister and opposition
leader & the present AGP candidate for two important constituencies of
middle Assam Prafulla Kumar Mahanta vehemently criticized the ruling
congress government in a press meet in the morning. Mahanta alleged
that Congress government in Assam betrayed the people in the name of
development. He criticized that the Tarun Gogoi led congress
government has done unlimited corruptions in the name of development.
About the misappropriation of funds by the government has been
indicated on the CAG report and the public are now well of their
corrupt practice in the state. Mahanta stated that the AGP has
appealed the Election Commission to put strict eyes on each of the
sensitive constituencies in Assam to conduct free and fair poll.
The unemployment, flood, price hike of essential
commodities, erosion and river dam problems are some of the burning
issues of the state which was neglected by the congress during their
tenure and AGP will give emphasis for solving the problems, he added.
“Congress use money and muscle power during election but AGP use
public power” told Mahanta. He was found to be very confident of his
win on his statement made to press.
On the other hand, the influential and high profile minister of Gogoi
government Rockybul Hussain also called a press meet at Rajib Bhawan
in Nagaon where he also criticized Mahanta on his silent role over the
development work of Barhampur Constituency from where he was elected
thrice. Hussain pointed out that Mahanta never think for the common
people so he have not done any developmental work on his constituency
while he was the chief minister of Assam. Hussain also told that the
people of Samaguri constituency will never accept such a leader who
did nothing for the constituency while he governed the state as CM.
Hussain expressed about the insecure atmosphere which prevailed in the
state during Mahanta’s reign ended by Congress government.
It is noticed that the both leaders claimed about their victory but
the real outcome will be in front of the public after the counting to
be held on May 13.
