Well this certainly puts a fly in the oinkment, when it has been revealed Israels arch nemisis is in Fact Jewish. Name change aside, it does not change the fact the President of Irans family were Jewish.
Now are Middle Easterners really all that different when it comes down to it? Are Jews, Arabs, Palestinans, Syrians etc, really all just the same race from a common land and background with different religious view points anthropologically speaking?
A photograph of the Iranian president holding up his identity card during elections in March 2008 clearly shows his family has Jewish roots.
A close-up of the document reveals he was previously known as Sabourjian – a Jewish name meaning cloth weaver.

Jewish means something extra here.
I mean, yes, we have those ultimately common roots, but here is a case of someone, in effect, consciously distancing himself from his own past so that he won't experience anti-Semitism directed at himself.

And the "hebrew alphabet" uses Aramaic symbols. Accept Jesus and Mohammed and you too can be a muslim, is this news ?

Persians are not Semitic, Arabs and Jews are. Separate races, separate languages, separate ancestories. Iranians speak Farsi, not arabic, and are, for the most part, descended from the ancient persians. Arabs are generally looked down upon as backwards and inferior, by Iranians.....a fact not lost on the Saudis and Kuwaitis.
Many Jews fled to Persia (outside the reach of Rome) during the Roman persecution that lasted 60-70 years beginning approx. 70 AD. They joined those that remained from when Shalmaneser captured Israel and deported the Jews of Northern Israel (approx 700 BC).
If Mahmoud has jewish roots, they likely go back to loooong before Mohammad - tho he talks as tho his father were a sonderkommando.

And why did Judaism move away from being an animal sacrifice religion in the ninth century AD towards being prayer based ? Prophet Mohammed advocated that 200 years previously !

Hmmm.... i was under the impression that the animal sacrifices ended with the destruction of the Temple in Jerusalem in 70 AD. (according to the New Testament, Jesus, being the perfect sacrifice, made the sacrifice of animals unnecessary).

Now, fill me in on this animal sacrifice that lasted until the 9th century.
While it may be claimed by some that i'm an expert, i find my knowledge in this area woefully inadequate.

Temple shattered animal sacrifices ended. Thus entered the Rabbinical period in Judaism. Synagogue became the center and prayers became the substitute for animal sacrifice to this day.
