Raja Petra arrested, charged in court

Malaysia Today Editor Raja Petra Raja Kamarudin(RPK) has gone missing.

The prominent blogger did not show up twice to face charges for his "criminal defamation" trial at the Petaling Jaya sessions court.

For his no-show on Tuesday (May 26,2009) and (April 23,2009),the sessions court has issued two warrants of arrest.

It has also issued a show-cause notice to RPK's wife and bailor Marina Lee Abdullah for her absence to explain why RPK did not attend the court trial.

RPK,59,a former Internal Security Act(ISA) detainee, had earlier claimed trial to three counts of "criminal defamation" on July 17 last year.

He had allegedly defamed Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor, wife of Malaysia's new Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak,Lt.Kol. Norhayati Hassan and her husband Lt.Kol.Abdul Aziz Buyong.

His statutory declaration about the trio's alleged involvement in the bomb blast murder of Mongolian beauty Altantuya shaaribuu had resulted in the high profile court trial.

Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Musa Hassan is seeking help of Australian police to track RPK who is believed to have gone into self-exile in Brisbane.

RPK's problem is apparently due to his outspoken criticism of Malaysian current affairs.

His blog is popular for its on-holds barred disclosures of what ail Malaysian politics, society and economy.
