It has been reported that alleged Ft. Hood shooter Major Malik Nadal Hasan is not dead. Initially there were reports that Maj. Malik Hasan was killed during the Fort Hood shooting, but at a Fort Hood press conference Lt. Gen Robert Cone said that Major Hasan is alive and in hospital. He is in stable condition and is expected to survive.
The Fort Hood press conference also revealed that Hasan has yet to be interrogated by police.

And, now Obama's attorney general or the army justice system will give him the death penalty, setting up another round of retribution against us.

Can you teach cannibals that eating people is wrong by eating the cannibals?

Giving the death penalty isn't a matter of teaching someone their action was wrong. That just wouldn't make any sense. It's a matter of punishing the criminal, not rehabilitating them. However, I don't find the death penalty to be an appropriate punishment as everyone is capable of being rehabilitated and returned to productive citizen life. If a steep punishment didn't exist, many people would run wild. There has to be a balance between mercy and sternness. It's wise.
