Malik Sher Afzal killed by TTP in Mohmand tribal region

A notable elder of tehsil Khawaizai of Mohmand tribal, Malik Sher Afzal, was shot dead on Wednesday in Peshawar, sources said. According to details, Malik Sher Afzal was coming from Ghallanai, regional headquarters, to Peshawar when some unknown gunmen opened fire on his vehicle. He could not succumbed to the wounds and died. Malik Sher Afzal was considered vocal against the local Taliban of Mohmand Agency. He was also a prominent member Aman committee of his area formed to counter the insurgency. Several other prominent elders have been killed so far in the agency. Taliban’s local spokesman, Ikramullah Mohmand claimed the responsibility of his killing.

In another incident, security forces opened fire on a suspected coach in Spenkai Tangi area of Khwaizai Baizai tehsil, some 65 kilometers to the North West of agency headquarters in which a 5 year old child was killed and a women and child were badly wounded. The injured were immediately shifted to Ghallanai hospital.
