Mamata's Only Ladies' EMU train services to be
introduced in Delhi, Chennai and Kolkata suburban routes on the
pattern of Mumbai suburban lines. She is soon to bring white paper on
Railways

The salient features of Mamata- rail budgets are,

Passenger fare & freight rates unchanged
Fifty seven new trains introduced
Tatkal booking charges reduced Rs 100
Monthly Season ticket @ Rs. 25 for unorganized laborers
Ladies Specials trains in Delhi, Kolkata, Chennai
New Trains for youth, poor
Twelve new non-stop trains for faster travel
Fifty world class railway
stations
Focus on punctuality, safety and security
Better passenger Amenities
Twenty seven trains extended
Frequency of 13 others increased
Tatkal advance period reduced to 2 days
Raillway Tickets will now be available at Post Offices also
Chemists Shops at stations, Doctor on long distance trains.

For her West Bengal where assembly election are next year she
announced 18 trains, a government takeover of the sick Burns Standard
and Braithwaite wagon manufacturing factory, a new wagon unit in
Majerhat and an EMU/ MEMU unit in Kach-rapara. And loaded with curry
an electronic locomotive component factory in Dankuni, a 1000 MW power
station in Adra, near the Maoist-hit area of Lalgarh.She promised a
new line in Lalgarh, along with Singur and Nandigram, places that have
become synonymous with her political resurrection in the state.

With passenger fares and freight tariffs unchanged, the Railway
Minister Ms. Mamata Banerjee on Friday unveiled a slew of sops for
unorganised sector, women and youth. She announced launch of 12 non-
stop point-to-point long-distance trains and air-conditioned double-
decker coaches for inter-city travel.

Presenting the first rail Budget of the New UPA government, she
announced schemes for developing 50 stations as world class stations,
upgrading 375 as model stations and construction of multi-functional
complexes at 50 stations serving centres of pilgrimage, tourist
interest and industry.
