Man Charged with Child porn - Suicide in Police Parking Lot

A 45 year old Alberta teacher was stopped at Canadian customs after returning from Thailand. As his luggage was searched, border guards found approximately 50 CDs containing child pornography. It would appear that the Canadian Border Service is keeping a closer eye on those returning from Thailand and Cambodia.

Just a few days after being charged with importing child pornography, Kerry Glenn Avery was found dead in a St. Albert police parking lot. St. Albert is a city that is just on the northwest outskirts of Edmonton, Alberta.

According to police Avery died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound.to the head. Police found a shotgun with a shortened barrel near the body.

Avery was to appear in court next week.

A 45-year-old Alberta teacher has killed himself just a few days after being charged with importing child pornography following a trip to Thailand.

The body of Kerry Glen Avey was found early Saturday in the parking lot of the RCMP detachment in St. Albert, near Edmonton.

Police say it appears Avey died of a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head because a shotgun with a shortened barrel was found near the body.

Avey had been arrested late last month when he returned from Thailand.

Border Services officers found a large collection of CDs and DVDs of child pornography inside a suitcase, and Avey was charged with one count of possession of and one count of importing child pornography.

He was released from police custody and was scheduled to appear in court next week.

He definitely saved us a pile of money for legal costs and the little incarceration he was likely to get. I assume he already abused some kids. These guys go to Thailand and Cambodia to live out their sick fantasies. This guy was a teacher to boot. Scary.
