Man dies after supermarket attack

In what is being called a "checkout rage attack," a man has been killed after he was punched to the ground inside a Sainsburys in Merton, UK.

A 57-year-old man attacked in an apparent row over queue-jumping at a supermarket has died.

The father of one, who has not been named, was assaulted at the Sainsbury's store in Merton, south west London, on Tuesday evening and died in hospital late on Wednesday night.

Tony Virasami, 37, from Lewisham, south east London, will appear in court charged over the attack.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: "A man assaulted in High Street, Merton, on June 10 died at 11.45pm on June 11 at St George's Hospital, Tooting.
