Man dies in Parachute school jump by gourley

A man has died in a parachute jump in Nottinghamshire.

The 30-year-old was on his third jump at the British Parachute School's centre at Langar, near Bingham, on Saturday afternoon.

It is believed he left the plane at 12,500ft but approached the ground too fast and hit his head on landing.

The Parachutist had apparently jumped more than 200 times beforehand and inspection shows that his parachute was working fine.

The unnamed man was airlifted to the Queen's Medical Centre in Nottingham but later died.

The Langar's Parachute School Centre in Nottinghamshire has been operating since 1977 and its members have made over 21,000 jumps since then with it being the busiest 'dropzone' in the UK.

Famously in June the Archbishop of York jumped strapped to a member of the Red Devils parachute team, to help raise money for the families of injured soldiers in Afgahnistan from the same site.
