IOWA CITY, Iowa -- A judge has found a man guilty of kidnapping and sexually assaulting an Iowa City woman in 2007.

Johnson County Judge Douglas Russell returned the verdict Wednesday against Micah Matthews, finding him guilty of first- and second-degree kidnapping and first-degree burglary.

Matthews was accused of breaking into the victim's home in June 2007 and threatening her with a handgun. Police said he forced the woman to drive to an ATM machine, but when she couldn't get enough money from the machine Matthews forced the woman to drive back to her house where he sexually assaulted her.

Matthews faces a mandatory sentence of life in prison.

Sentencing was scheduled for April 17.
