Mandy Simon: TSA Pats Down Screaming Child (Video)
TSA Pat-Down Traumatizes 3-Yr-Old Mandy Simon
When Mandy Simon, a three-year-old girl, set off the metal detector at Chattanooga Airport, she got the TSA pat-down treatment. The child began to scream. Airport scanner images aren't the only things distressing travelers these days.
Mandy Simon's father is Steve Simon, a Houston-based TV reporter and anchor. Steve Simon captured the incident on video with his mobile phone.
If the TSA is going to search kids, maybe they need a little training on how to do it--or at least employees should have a few lollipops or stickers in their pockets.
This points out yet again how the American approach to flight security misses the point, thanks to an “everyone must suffer equally” approach.
This is what happens when you have mall cops enforcing real-life rules.
We see only 17 seconds in the video, but those 17 seconds are enough to make my typical fears of flying with children seem pretty insignificant.
What would you do if your child was being treated like this by TSA officials?
