Manmohan Singh Sworn in as the Prime Minister of India

At 6:30 PM IST Manmohan Singh was sworn in as the Prime Minster of India for the second time. He is the only prime minister of independent India after Pt. Jawaharlal Nehru to have returned as a prime minister after a full five year term.

The ceremony lasted about 45 minutes and ended with the national anthem of India being played out.

The oath that was taken by the ministers goes as follows:

I will uphold the sovereignty and integrity of India that I will faithfully and conscientiously discharge my duties as the minister of the union. I will do right to all manner of people in accordance with the constitution & law without fear or favour; affection or ill will.

I do solemnly affirm I will not directly or indirectly communicate or reveal to any person or persons any matter which shall be brought under my consideration or shall be known to me known to me as a minister to the union except as may be required for the due discharge of my duties as such a minister

Along with him 19 cabinet ministers have been sworn in by the President of India Pratibha Patil in a ceremony hosted in the Rashtrapati Bhawan in New Delhi; national capital of India.

C P Joshi, Kamal Nath and Meira Kumar took the oath in Hindi. There were some light moments in the ceremony, the entire attendance burst out laughing when Kamal Nath started before the President. Sonia Gandhi, Manmohan Singh were clearly seen smiling at the eagerness of Kamal Nath to get on with it.

Those in attendence were Lalu Prasad Yadav, Seetaram Yathuri, L K Advani and Media Moghul Subhash Chandra. Sonia Gandhi, Priyanka Gandhi, Robert Vadhera, Rahul Gandhi, Sheela Dixit were some of the leaders present.

Wow, what a sad day for Tamils in Sri Lanka.

The Indians have selected a party who has already violated the faith of Indians by sending troops, and banned chemical weapons to kill Tamils in Sri Lanka under the table, and swearing in the same prime minister to be "faithful" to the country is only a big fat joke.
