March Harris Poll:57-67% of GOP Believe Obama is Muslim Socialist
A Harris Poll released this month states that of 2,230 people surveyed, 57% of Republican respondents believe President Obama’s faith is Islam.
Among the other findings in the Harris Poll:
- 67 % of Republicans polled believe that Obama is a socialist
- 45% believe Obama was not born in the United States
- 38 % say that Obama is "doing many of the things that Hitler did"
- 24% believe that Obama is the antichrist, a biblical figure who foretells the end of the world.
Research 2000 and Harris Polls Offer Similar Results
Certain findings in the Harris Poll tend to corroborate earlier polling by Research 2000 in February 2010. The Research 2000 Poll, commissioned by the DailyKos and considered a liberal leaning website, had surveyed about 250 people.
The Research 2000 poll showed 63% of Republicans believed President Obama to be a socialist and only 42% believing he was born in the United States. The variation in the two polls just a month apart reveal 4% more believe President Obama is a socialist, while those who don't the President is a U.S. citizen has dropped 3%.
Right Wing Media Reportage Responsible for Beliefs?
Right wing pundits like Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck, in conjunction with such sites as WorldNetDaily (WND) and FreeRepublic, have provided coverage of all of the beliefs that have been embraced by those identified as Republicans.
These attitudes have also been reported by WorldNetDaily, in Senator McCains's 2008 Presidential Campaign Ad and in USA Today.
Mainstream Media Addresses Inaccuracies
Coverage of Obama's personal history, faith, and beliefs meant to correct the facts and educate those surveyed in these polls has been available widely since the beginning of his election campaign in 2007, yet it would seem to have been ignored. This includes related articles in:

Finally, they are out in the open. Hoods and sheets off, they are out there for everyone to see. The corporate elitists who trample the working class and Middle America are so upset that they must now pay a share for the burden that the rest of us have carried for too long. They prey upon the uneducated and their fears to try to muster a quorum of hate.

YJ,I am in total agreement when you say"they prey upon uneducated"and would like to add they prefer uneducated among their ranks.Ignorants are preferred because they never ask an uncomfortable question.

What amazes me is the amount of people that will believe all the lies told about Obama. Ignorance might be our biggest problem in America, not Health Care Reform...Anyway...I thought Dick Cheney was Hitler...hehe
at 19:26 on March 24th, 2010
Really Victor Mike? I always thought Dick Cheney WAS the Anti-Christ. And no evidence has been presented to prove any otherwise.... tee hee hee

If they truly think so about Obama then I do not know what we should think about G.W. Bush and Co?
One may not agree with Obama his way to govern but he is far from being even remotely close to a Hitler.
I always though that religion and state had to be separate in the US? Why would it matter what religion he is?

When did Republicans become the party of morons?
at 19:48 on March 24th, 2010
Around the time Reagan started to use the religious right to get into office.

The old party of jokers(OPJ formerly known as GOP) has gone berserk, lost all sense of proportion in earnest desire to see that US is governed by brutal clowns, whose every act was performed on the dead bodies of women and children.Hitler might have turned in his grave, felt so ashamed of failure on his part to carry out genocide on that scale on which it was carried out by Bush Sr.,the great Satan, and his son Bush Bin Satan.
Obama's style of functioning has nothing to do with his faith. He doesn't need Grahams, duo of son and father,to make him a 'born again Christian'.

In addition to your piece, Karen.

Thanks for the link, TC. Good piece. Is it yours?
It's a hell of a chess game, isn't it?
at 20:39 on March 24th, 2010
Yep. 'tis mine, and thank you.
It is a hell of a game, Karen - people wanted change that very second that Obama came to power, what I don't think they realised was the mess that the US was really in, neither do I think they know even now. But, one thing I have noticed about the man in all the years I have been following him, he is one clever, clever individual.
I would love the chance to interview him. Just to get a little more insight. And I wouldn't ask about him as president, I would go for what he was like way back when.

In a slightly different take on the poll here's John Amato's reaction:New online Harris poll basically says: Republicans are insane
at 12:47 on March 25th, 2010
Well, Nanute, I wouldn't have said it that way but, ....!

Is this just about Republicans? what about others who do not have a good opinion of your hero?
at 04:04 on March 26th, 2010
Rene, the article is about the results contained in a Harris poll and the entrenched attitudes, found in the Republican Party, not about those " .... who do not a have a good opinion ....".
No data on those having negative opinions of President Obama were offered. The main thing worthy of note is that all the things believed are erroneous. Although, the data qualifying for a negative opinion would be those believing the President is the Anti Christ, his actions being like Hitler and, on a different level, the Birther nonsense.
What has been striking is the consistent data obtained, in a number of polls, showing Republican Party members, Tea Partiers and viewers of FOXNews most likely to believe all of the ideas detailed in this latest poll.

Abraham Foxman, Boss of pro-Israel Jewish lobby group, Anti-Defamation League (ADL) has blamed Zionist-controlled Obama administration for underminig Middle East peace instead of the radical Jewish government in Tel Aviv. “This administration has bought into this concept – even Joe Biden’s language, that if we don’t resolve this conflict American soldiers will die – that’s the worst of that fallacy. When the secretary of state then says that it harms the bilateral relationship – what happens between the Palestinians and Israelis impacts American security. The solution of the problem is in Baghdad, Kabul, Tehran, maybe in Riyadh and Cairo. Not in Jerusalem,” quoted Israeli daily Ha’aretz, March 15, 2010. rehmat1.wordpress.com/2010/03/17/the-tail-wagging-the-dog/

well he certainly is NOT a Christian! and his FIRST official act as president was to remove the Mexico City Act thereby funding ABORTIONS in other countries. And NO Muslim would ever do that. And he has combined a little bit of Marxism, some Economic Facsism (takeovers of whole industries), a little bit of Communal-ism, and a dash of Socialistic JUSTICE into a brand new ideology. No true Socialist would ever do that. Barack Obama is different. He is an Obamunist in as much as Karl Marx was a Marxist (and Lenin a Leninist, and Mao, ect..). I truly believe that Obamunism is with us to stay. It is a better more purified Social Theory. It is just the good parts from all of the Leftisms combined into a brand NEW WORLD VIEW. It is Obamunistic! Its Obamtastic!! Its Obamunism!!!
