Like the Hatfields and McCoys, two families in the town of Marion, Alabama are taking part of a family feud so fierce that it set off a riot in the middle of town. More than 150 people were believed to have been involved in a full-scale riot outside Marion town hall.

Just how nasty was the Marion Alabama riot? Members of the Moore and Sawyer family were seen people throwing tire irons and swinging baseball bats. Even the town's police chief was hit in the head by a crow bar.

The mayor of Marion said he wasn't sure what sparked the Marion Alabama riot. It appears to have stemmed from an old feud between the Moore and Sawyers, which flared up again after a fight at a high school basketball. In addition, the window of someone's home was reportedly shot out.

After two people were arrested in the high school fight, members of both families gathered at town hall and a full-on donnybrook ensued. Six people were arrested in the melee. The Marion Alabama riot was so big that law enforcement from nearby towns were called in to restore order.
