If Mark Heuer doesn’t land a job, at least hundreds of thousands of people will know what he looks like. Heuer’s seven-times-life-size image, printed on weather-resistant vinyl and illuminated at night by spotlights the size of basketballs, is about to be wrapped around a billboard visible to the drivers of 60,000 vehicles a day.

Since the 45-year-old Kewaskum, Wisconsin man has the space for 30 days, that makes 1.8 million chances someone will notice his sign and do what he’s hoping they’ll do: hire him.  Mark decided he no longer wanted to work at a military prison camp in Iraq more than 7,000 miles from his wife and three children, his timing couldn’t have been less fortunate. It was October, and the U.S. economy was tanking.

Heuer was  and remains a strong believer in networking as a path to career success, and upon his return he went at it aggressively. He uses business oriented networking Web sites such as Linkedin and has been participating in face to face networking groups. But after those efforts yielded several job interviews but no job, Mark decided to use a traditional marketing channel in a non-traditional way.

This story is about the lengths people will go to find a job. If this isn't newsworthy then I guess someone better contact CNN because they are the one's who did the original story this afternoon.

I watched it on CNN around 2:45pm EST, CNN is following his story and gave him 30 seconds on the air today so I'm sure your going to hear more about him in a couple of weeks.

I am Mark from Mark4hire and the original story broke out of a small paper in West Bend, WI - the story then took on legs of its own. It went to local news NBC, then to the Milwaukee Sentinel, FOX then picked it up, then ABC then CNN. This weekend CNN Australia picked it up and if you type in mark4hire.com in your Google search you will see the the various areas it was picked up on, as well as the many blogs.

I hope to have something soon as I am going through interviewing now. And I most appreciate all the well wishes people have bestowed.
