Martin O'Malley Can Seek Reelection

Incumbent Martin O'Malley won the Democratic primary against J.P. Cusick and Ralph Jaffe, two newcomers. Now the stage is set for a rematch between Martin O'Malley and Robert Erlich. While the recession has hit O'Malley's public image pretty hard, Maryland is doing better than most other US states, and we should expect a glass-half-empty vs half-full campaign between Ehrlich and O'Malley.

Maryland Primary: Senate Results

In the Senate primaries, Barbara Mikulski sailed to victory in the Democratic election, while Eric Wargotz edged out Jim Rutledge for the Republican win.

Ehrlich ran on a pro-business and tax-cutting platform. The former governor was defeated by O'Malley when he ran for re-election in 2006.

O'Malley has been touting record investments in education despite tough economic times during his tenure.
