Mass Migration Of Tribesmen Due To War Between Taliban And Security Forces In Mohmand Agency

GHALLANAI: Tribal people of tehsil Lakkaro and neighboring villages in Mohmand Agency have vacated their houses due to escalation in the war between the local Taliban militants and the security forces. Political authorities have closed the roads for all sorts of traffic after the suicide attack on Nehqi Check post on October 26 imposing curfew in major cities and towns of the Agency. Due to the closer of roads the fleeing tribesmen are facing great troubles in evacuating.
Sources told that fighting between the Taliban militants and the security forces has become more severe and heavy artillery is being used from both sides. Taliban militants have been firing mortar shells on paramilitary forces’ points that are retaliated with heavy artillery shelling from Ghallanai and Yousaf Khel base camps. The fighting between Taliban militants and the security forces continued for the third consecutive night in the area.The local tribesmen who think themselves between devil and the deep sea are vacating their houses and migrating to safe places. In the previous day fighting, Taliban also blew up Dhand Bridge on Main Peshawar-Gandhab road causing immense trouble to the tribesmen.
