Mayawati govt shows door to two ministers

LUCKNOW: Rattled by the murder of CMO, family welfare, Dr B P Singh, the Mayawati government on Thursday swung into a damage-control exercise by showing the door to two ministers — Anant Kumar Mishra (health and medical) and Babu Singh Kushwaha (family planning). 

In the swift action taken after a meeting chaired by the chief minister, the government also removed principal secretary, family planning, Pradeep Shukla, and chief medical officer, Lucknow, Dr A K Shukla. Besides, a clerk in the health department, Sanjay Anand, was arrested after an FIR was lodged against him with the Hazratganj police station. The CM also reverted to the old system by abolishing the post of CMO (family welfare).
