Maziar Bahari from Newsweek has been released from jail in Tehran after he was held there since June 21st. Iran did not specify why they had released him on bail, but it is believed that the fact he is about to be a father and his mother has been ill may have something to do with it. He is now home with his family.

Bahari, NEWSWEEK's Iran correspondent and an internationally acclaimed documentary filmmaker, was arrested in the aftermath of the contested June 12 re-election of Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.

Maziar Bahari has been working for Newsweek for over 10 years in Tehran, and hundreds of people around the world have petitioned for his release.
