New Ads appearing online this morning claim John McCain won the debate, despite it not taking place for at least 10 hours. One even had McCain's campaign manager Rick Davis proclaiming: "McCain won the debate - hands down."
John McCain's web team is either incompetent, or playing a dangerous political game, depending on how you want to look at it. All this week, even after McCain claimed he was suspending his campaign and wouldn't attend the debates, his website still listed the date of the debate under their 'upcoming events'.
So what exactly is going on here? While creating ads for a win - or loss, before an event is not unheard of, at least those ones weren't published.
"McCain Wins Debate!" declares the ad which features a headshot of a smiling McCain with an American flag background. Another ad spotted by our eagle-eyed observer featured a quote from McCain campaign manager Rick Davis declaring: "McCain won the debate-- hands down."
In todays world of instant news, most everyone has a strong plan of action and response in place for upcoming events.
My guess is McCain's campaign submitted two ads to the Wall Street Journal, with two seperate spins (One to play, depending on outcome), and when someone at the journal was preparing them for que to run after the debate in pre paid spots, a mistake or glitch happened to show one premature (maybe in a current pre paid spot for a different ad).
I'd say the blame is most certainty and fully in the hands of the Wall Street Journal on this one. (imo)
Certainly could not have been McCain's fault. After all, he was busy uni-tasking on the bailout.
As the McCain campaign has run so swimmingly so far, it must to be the fault of an underground conservative operative in that liberal rag, the Wall Street Journal. Someone was just so eager to start the spin there was just no waiting.
TheCameraObscura, I like this story. It's good stuff.
Hum, So what will happen if he does not win the election, will they send in the Army to make sure he won the election. The US do look more and more like a rugged state and a dangerous one as well with weapons of mass destruction and leaders that may be Saddam's DNA twin. We do need a UN resolution against the US forcing it to disarm and then let them go mad if they want to. The US is a real danger to the World with it's ABC arsenal and its Bush/ McCain administrations.
