On TV McCain's economic adviser  has implied that McCain helped create the Blackberry. This will surely sit right up with Al Gores' claims eight years ago that he was instrumental in creating the Web. Lets see what else McCain's team come up with and what counters Obama might respond with. At the moment Obama seems to be holding back and his running partner is strangely silent unlike Mr. McCain's high profile ticket partner Palin. It's hard to see where things might be heading in terms of Democrat tactics at the moment but the Republicans are going all out for the 'in your face approach' at the moment. Now every time Obama gets a 'keep on message' message reminder on his Blackberry, he'll be thanking McCain for the technology that delivers - or maybe not!

Poor Al Gore truly stepped in it eight years ago when he described his involvement in government internet incentives as taking "the initiative in creating" the Web. Republicans gleefully inflated and mocked his apparent egocentrism, and Gore barely recovered before the election.

Now John McCain's chief economic adviser may just have done the same thing.

McCain claimed on TV this morning that his chairmanship of the Senate commerce committee during the 1990s helped educate him on the financial markets - an assertion that prompted reporters to ask economic adviser Doug Holtz-Eakin for some examples.

Holtz-Eakin responded, incredibly, by holding up a BlackBerry. "He did this," the McCain adviser said.

"Telecommunications of the United States is a premier innovation in the past 15 years, comes right through the Commerce committee so you're looking at the miracle John McCain helped create and that's what he did."

You just can't find good help these days......

The difference between this and Gore's "invention", is that he actually said it, and not a staffer. "I took the initiative in creating the Internet"..... almost like those traditional English Potatoe plants that Quale spoke about....  people are going to go Gonzo over this one.

Now that he's invented it, perhaps someone will show him how to use it.

You ought to go to Gores new 100 ft houseboat and get a comment from him about this issue as he burns 10 gallons of fuel an hour.

Much has been discussed about John McCain not being able to use a computer and in an ad from the Barack Obama campaign (shown above) it says, “Can’t send an email,” referencing McCain. An article in Boston.com from 2000, shows McCain cannot type on a keyboard.

It took a blogger from The Corner less than a day to find an article in Boston.com that references John McCain injuries from Vietnam, showing he cannot tie his shoes, comb his hair properly or “typing on a keyboard,” stating it was because of his severe war injuries, which limit his ability to do certain things with his hands.
