McCain to supporters: 'You’re angry, and I’m angry too'
DAVENPORT, Iowa (CNN) — After days of headlines over the emotion at his campaign events, John McCain acknowledged at a rally in Davenport, Iowa Saturday that he and his supporters are angry — but insisted the anger wasn't directed at opponent Barack Obama.
After a week of headlines about angry outbursts from the audience at McCain-Palin rallies directed toward Obama, the Republican nominee added some new lines in his stump speech giving a nod to the emotion on the trail.
"My friends, I have traveled all over this great country, and one thing I have heard from Americans at every stop is that they are angry. They’re angry. They’re angry. They’re angry about the mess in Washington and Wall Street. They’re angry about the failure of leadership at this hour of national crisis,” said McCain. “Well you’re angry, and I’m angry too, and when Sarah Palin and I get to the White House we’ll turn Washington upside down.”
But Obama’s record didn’t entirely escape McCain’s wrath. The GOP presidential candidate pointed to a large contribution to Obama’s political campaign from a beneficiary of one of his opponent's earmarks.
As we move closer to what will obviously be the most important election in our lives I can only wonder what is gong on with the American public. Mccain at a rally last week had to calm down the crowd as they continued to become angry at Mccain for not standing up to the so called attacks from the Obama campaign. Mccain showed his true colors at that rally and i was happy to see him back again. Although I am an Obama supporter, I regard Mccain as being a true patriot and a true American citizen. He is a man who would give his life for this country in support of our freedoms, and as a former Navy man myself I am happy to see a great man like that in the Senate.
Mccain has obviously lost control of his campaign. During the past few weeks Palin began an attack campaign agaist Obama that I am sure was not supported by Mccain. The television ads that have run on the internet and tv's across the nation do not reflect the type of politics Mccain would ever engage in. So what's happened to his campaign that has caused this disconnect. While Mccain is trying to keep up in the polls his campaign staff seems to have been at odds with him over how low they can go inorder to win this election. Mccain a true patriot and an honorable man does seem to want a difference in party politics, but his campaign staff wants to win. He continued to express frustration at the crowd about comments made that suggested a fear of Obama or that he was an Arab. Mccain immediately stopped the foolish comments even though it caused a negative reaction within the crowd.
The Mccain camp would have a better chance at sticking with the issues rather then going on the attack. There are obvious differences between Mccain and Obama but the road to the White House will not be paved with attacks, its too important of a time in America to not focus on the issues. In my opinion Mccain would not be so far behind in the polls if his campaign stuck to his strategy of sticking with the issues and laying out a plan.
Mccain has continued to voice his anger but now his supporters are even more angry. They want more attacks on Obama and Biden, Mccain however being the good man that he is knows the difference between the politics of old, and the campaign of a statesman. However it seems hard for him to keep that honor going. He seems to struggle with being a good statesman and falling into the political circus his campaign is laying out.
If Mccain loses this campaign it will be because his campaign team was to eager to get to the White House. They didnt take the time to learn about Mccain and honor the love he has for his country. In November I am casting my vote for Barack Obama, I am doing so because I feel that Mccain has lost touch with certain parts of America. Although I regard Mccain as a great American who should be honored for all of his sacrifice, I have to look at what is best for my children and your children. We need a change in this country, one that we've never seen before. The time is now..... they must stick with the issues and give real solutions.
Obama has laid out a plan to restore this country and not only bring back the economy but to also bring back our allies so that we can look to war as the last option and not the first. It still bothers me when the lady at a Mccain rally called Barack Obama an Arab as if being an Arab is a bad thing even though Barack is not Arab. We can not blame Arabs for the mistake of a few just like we can not blame any other race for a small percentage of wrong a few may do. We have to learn to stop hating and begin loving again in America. We have to bring back the great American spirit that has been a part of our lives deep in our hearts. A smile each day, saying hello to a stranger, defending the rights of those who cannot defend themselves. We have to elect statesman instead of politicians. What ever happen to the word statesman? Maybe the question should be what ever happen to statesman?

there IS one thing I DO like about North Carolina and it was quite a culture shock from a person who lived in California all his life, and that is the smiles and waves and hellos to perfect strangers that happen all over this state. Everyone you make eye contact with gets you a friendly wave or hello. THAT'S America!
