McCain Web Site Promises, Doesn’t Deliver

Assuming the text of Republican John McCain’s speech would be available at his campaign web site soon after it was delivered in Columbus, Ohio, this morning, I opted to put my pen down and listen as the presidential candidate spelled out his vision for the first four years of his presidency. Unfortunately, I was wrong.

At approximately 11 a.m., I visited JohnMcCain.com and clicked on the “Read More” button that appears within a box occupying the site’s highest-value real estate. Unfortunately, that click took me to another page offering only one message: : “You are not authorized to view this page.”

Perhaps, the McCain campaign team needs to focus more attention on the here-and-now instead of on what the world might look like after four years of a McCain presidency. Doing simple things right would go a long way toward helping the Arizona senator disperse some of the lesser-of-two-evils smoke many conservatives see hanging over his candidacy.

NOTE: I repeated the steps described above at least four times before publishing this post.

UDPATE 12:15 p.m Central:  A blogger friend, Terresa at NoisyRoom.net, pointed out to me that she found the speech -- Remarks By John McCain in Columbus, Ohio -- available elsewhere on McCain's site this morning.  Still, I stand by my observations that the candidate needs to do the simple things (i.e., making sure the most-prominent links on his web site work properly) right before focusing on more complex issues.  Thanks, Terresa!
