McCain was one of the so-called "Keating Five" senators. He was investigated by the Senate Select Committee on Ethics in 1991 regarding the acceptance of favors from Lincoln Savings & Loan Association (Lincoln) and its owner, Charles H. Keating, Jr. Simply put, the issue was whether McCain and the other senators used their official positions to attempt to pressure Federal Home Loan Bank Board officials to go easy on the troubled institution. Eventually Lincoln went bust, costing depositors and taxpayers millions.
In its final report (November 20, 1991), here is what the Senate Select Committee on Ethics concluded about McCain's conduct:
"Mr. Keating, his associates, and his friends contributed $56,000 for Senator McCain's two House races in 1982 and 1984, and $54,000 for his 1986 Senate race. Mr. Keating also provided his corporate plane and/or arranged for payment for the use of commercial or private aircraft on several occasions for travel by Senator McCain and his family, for which Senator McCain ultimately provided reimbursement when called upon to do so. Mr. Keating also allowed Senator McCain and his family to vacation with Mr. Keating and his family, at a home provided by Mr. Keating in the Bahamas, in each of the calendar years 1983 through 1986.
"…[F]rom 1984 to 1987, Senator McCain took actions on Mr. Keating's behalf or at his request. The Committee finds that Senator McCain had a basis for each of these actions independent of the contributions and benefits he received from Mr. Keating, his associates and friends. http://www.virtualcitizens.com/articles/McCain_still_supports_corrupt_laws_which_benefit_Phil_Gramm_McCain039s_financial_advisor

Remember Neil Bush and his Savings & Loan Fraud? http://www.godlikeproductions.com/forum1/message498105/pg1 Rev.
Both McCain and Neil were involved in Savings, Thrift , and Bank failure coverups. during the same time frame when Bush Sr. became President...Taxpayers were left to pay the bailout. There is a big connection to this and our present Housing Mortgage Crisis. The coverup is accusing Public Institutions such as Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae for the wrong doing, when the Private Institutions failed instead.

The banks are controlling the oil prices by buying the oil futures, and then buying the oil. They jack up the price by more than $1500-$2000 usd per month and then sell off on American families. That very money they take for the high cost of fuel could be used to pay the mortgages on their homes that banks are now foreclosing on across the country, from America's biggest Home Mortgage Crisis. Banks raise the price for energy, and then take their homes right out from under their feet. Now how is that the American Way John? In fact John McCain has so many homes he can't remember how many he has, as he bilks families across the United States in this Phil Gramm Enron Loophole Scheme.
And get this, Enron went bankrupt and the CEO's were sentenced to jail. Ken Lay died before his sentencing; yet Phil Gramm goes on exercising the same crooked deeds Ken Lay was doing, and nobody indicts him or John MCain. Just who is speaking out about cleaning up Washington and the good Old Boys? None other than shiney shoes John McCain...the Master of Hypocrisy. We also might want to ask John about the money and support he got from Jack Abramoff, who was sentenced to 6 years for bribes and corruption.
McCain I think is over qualified to be President. He has a mountain of stuff that I have not even mentioned that also relates to Jack Abramoff and his swindling, to the direct attack of 911 on our country. John was talking about going to war before 911 even happened... John has been fighting a war for a long time from what I see in his long protracted good old boys entrenching in Washington....and it has been more than fighting terrorists. I just wish this change he is talking about is about doing something for America instead of war, and bring the troops home from Japan...I mean come on John....that war ended a mighty long time ago, and you still can't get out of Japan? I see we needed to explode two atomic bombs to get into Japan and it will take at least 2 more to get us out?
I am really afraid of this idea of John leading America. In fact this election is to continue the fleecing of America instead.
About me: 50 years old, never had a home of my own. Even now 2008 unable to buy even one home, so the banks could foreclose on me...Pretty good uh! I'm so poor I can't even buy a used car to buy the expensive gas to put in my tank..Pretty Good uh! Hey but all is not loss....I do have a 2 wheel bike... Sure am lucky I am so poor? I can't even buy a gun like most Americans and lots of bullets to protect myself from terrorists. Hey but who needs a gun. I have settled for Nonviolence as my defense shield.....But that's not bad; at least I can make 700 dollars a month.or a little over 6,000usd a year...But hey think poverty is bad? I can say at least I am not contributing to global warming, and I get good exercise by riding my bike. As far as my wife and kids...well you know where my money goes.. And how is it that nice guys finish last? That's right Rev. Jermano.....Even George Bush has not sent me my tax refund check he promised last year to all Americans to stimulate the economy. You think I need the money? Nahhhhhh...!
Sock it to me Barack!
Rev. Jermano God Bless

I read it....But he was still friends with Keating and got a lot of money from him, in doing things for him. I find that more scandalous. There are terrorist in his life....they are the people who believe in no war, and nonviolence.

Thanks Barry....There is stuff that these guys in Washington just do nothing about in moving America forward. They are elected and make all this money not only from the Taxpayers but also from bribing Lobbyist and nothing gets accomplished, except more war. The people are duped and brainwashed that the Republicans do not support Big Government but they do support Big Government which is the Military Industrial Complex. Instead of helping Americans get jobs, pay bills, and make America creditable around the world in which other countries want American made products, they make enemies calling everyone terrorists, killing innocent kids, and families. We fight wars, maintain occupations, and always wave the threat of force and Mututally Assured Destruction, without a thought to why do we do that? Better to make friends, and educate people around the world to how to work to end war from happening.. Then we need to turn around the deficits, and get things moving toward clean energy solutions, so we are not destroyed by Global Warming and Monster Hurricanes.

I not only remember the Keating 5, I remember that Old Man Bush and his two sons Jeb and Neil (one of two that the American Public doesn't know exist) cost the American people $1.4 Trillion in the Savings and Loan scandal. (The other unknown Bush son is Marvin- the one in charge of security at the World Trade Center just before 9/11)
When will America wake up and realize that by voting on emotional smoke-screen issues like abortion they are being led around by the nose and the war of the classes goes on. Every 20 years we have welfare for the weathy and become more socialist by bailing out banks that these guys go in and loot. The poor working class is paying trillions of dollars for these jerks to live high on the hog, buy up the media and spoon feed Fox News to the ignorant masses.
I personally know people that worked for Countrywide Mortgage. They gave loans to people who didn't really qualify, took those loans bundled them according to risk and sold them to other investors. People at Countrywide were making salaries of millions of dollars per year to do this. They sold a load of this crap to Bear Stearns and when the loans couldn't be collected our wonderful government bailed out Bear Stearns. It cost us $7000 per person to give loan bundlers at Countrywide $4 M salaries per year. Wake up people.
The worst part of the whole deal is how much trade deficit and how much crappy debt was sold to China. A sleeping bear with a marching army the size of our country.

Americans constantly put down the politics of China, I lived there over a year and one thing I got to say about their politics. They don't let government officials get away with half the crap we let our government officials get away with. While I was there, two government officials were caught taking bribes,( how common is that in America politics) they were both executed.
Yes sounds a little harsh but the government of China is actually for the people believe it or not and they take that vow seriously, maybe it's time we did.

I love China....been here for 8 years....I don't see a change in returning unless Bush and Cheney are locked up for life....along with Phil Gram of Texas....for his acts in crashing the economy.
