Republican Bob McDonnell beat State Senator Democrat Creigh Deeds in the race for Governor for the Commonwealth of Virginia. McDonnell become the 71st Governor of Virginia with a promise to create jobs and hold the line on taxes.
All the other position up for grabs in this election were captured by Republicans, including Bill Bolling keeping his post as lieutentant governor and Ken Cuccinelli capturing the office of attorney general.
