This photo was taken circa 2005 at the Swords of Qādisīyah (Hands of Victory) in Baghdad around the end of my 12 month Tour.
We were out on patrol that day, and decided to get a picture with the swords before we went back to our camp later in the evening.
The swords are absolutely beautiful, and stand 40 meters high (130 feet).

coolarmyboy!!!! LOL you think you could, perhaps, possibly be cool? you're in the ARMY, in my country, taking pictures in places I made my childhood memories in, in uniform, I dont think its cool, im sorry!!! It breakes my heart to see you guys enjoy my places of my memories, not as tourists, peaceful and respectful of us, but rather as soldiers, occupying my memories, my beautiful places. I used to thank you for making my country free of that tyrant saddam, but now it seems your tyranny reigns! I googled "Arms of Qadisiyah" and all I got in images was soldiers taking pics. Enjoy making memories as i did. Who knows how long it'll last, it doesn't seem to be getting better and who knows perhaps when you guys leave the green zone, some stupid Iraqis will turn it into ruins!!!!
P.s. by no means am I being disrespectful to you guys, but I wouldn't say I'm being respectful neither! Im just inbetween worlds & MEMORIES
