While some of the medicine requested by the part-time school kids were what we would typically call "medicine" (such as antibiotics and antacids), a lot of the medicine requested were just vitamin supplements. Given that 80% of Bangladesh earns less than $2 a day - it is often very hard for the poor to buy foods rich in vitamins (or sources of protein such as meat and fish). Vitamin deficiency - especially among children - is a common occurrence here.
