NP Rank:
Meg Whitman For Governor of California, Ex-eBay CEO Running
Meg Whitman formally announced today (Tuesday) that she is running for the Republican nomination for 2010 California gubernatorial race.
The former eBay CEO decided to run for California governor, promising to cut taxes, cut state spending, and reform education. She also said she would put greenhouse gas reduction on hold, a law which Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger signed in 2006.
"People desperately want California to be great again," Whitman said in her prepared remarks. "Most of all, they want to live in a place of opportunity and optimism, not a place of small dreams and scaled-down ambitions."
California now faces high unemployment rate at 12.2% and huge budget crisis this year.
Whitman said she would put the 2006 state law that restricts greenhouse gas emission on hold "until we fully understand the law's impact on our economy."
Meg Whitman, 53, has public office no experience, and only switched her voter registration from "decline-to-state" to Republican in 2007. She emphasizes her experience in business world qualifies her to stimulate job creation.

Interesting. I think she is smarter than the average Republican. In fact, she may be smarter than Arnold Schwarznegger, the current Governor of California (Republican). Thus, I think she stands a chance at winning if she gets the Republican nomination for the 2010 gubernatorial race.

I like and admire Rudy Giulliani and Arnold Schwartzenegger. I am appalled at the idea of Meg Whitman attaining public office. The difference is that both of the gentlemen I mention have demonstrated a long record of public service. Whitman on the other hand has made a fortune off a business that has a main objective of making as much money as possible with as little customer interaction as is necessary. They did not even offer a customer service contact phone number for most of their years in business and then only to a chosen few. When I pay my tax dollars they are to provide certain services for me, mainly schools, roads and emergency services. In my humble opinion, if Whitman ran California as she did Ebay we would be totally screwed! I think we should support a candidate who understands service. Dear GOP please find us a good candidate and please stop her from buying a position in our government.
